Now entering its tenth year, La Tierra Paso Finos continues to develop as a premier breeding farm and as a promoter of our wonderful breed.

Betty Goldman took her first ride on a Paso Fino in the summer of 1998. She fell in love with the smooth ride, beauty, responsiveness and positive personality of the breed. That September, Betty and Stan purchased their first horses, Isabella and Fortunada, two beautiful, black mares. Betty began competing as an amateur-owner rider in 1999.

In her first Nationals competition, in 1999, Betty won the Reserve National Amateur-Owner Fino Mare title on her favorite fino mare, La Chunga de La Luisa. She continues to compete successfully and still enjoys the thrill of the show ring and the challenge of the keen competition.

Stan became interested in the breeding aspects of horse ownership, and began a study of the top breeding lines both now here in the U.S., as well as those in Colombia and other Latin countries. Stan furthered his education through talking with some of the most highly regarded breeders in the industry. He has become extremely knowledgeable about Paso Fino bloodlines and breeding.

Stan developed a plan to acquire mares with the most respected bloodlines and to breed them to excellent stallions. We are honored to have been the owners of the now deceased legendary mares, Profetiza, Ponderosa Candileja and La Gaviota, as well as the legendary Semilla de Corazon Bravo, Romantica de Altagracia and La Plebeya. They form the basis of the La Tierra breeding program with our other world class mares including: La Chunga de La Luisa, Mysteriosa de La Tierra, Intriga de La Vitrina, Julietta La Tierra and La Chi Chi de La Libertad. La Tierra now owns over 25 brood mares of exceptional quality. La Tierra's goal is to produce direct sons and daughters from these legendary mares in order to perpetuate their valuable bloodlines.

We have bred the fine stallions of today with these great mares and utilized the most advanced breeding techniques, when necessary, to insure the highest quality foal crops possible. We have now started breeding to our own stallions. So far, our breeding program has produced horses of exceptional quality.

We have some extraordinary foals on the ground. Over the past several years La Tierra bred offspring have won multiple National Championships.  Currently our foal, yearling and 2 year old crop look extremely promising; with some very special prospects amongst them.

As we all know, setting up a farm involves a bumpy learning curve. La Tierra has been through the same learning process as every other horse breeder. We are fortunate to have all operations done at one location and we are very proud to have an experienced, competent group of individuals who work with us in our training, showing and breeding operations. The entire collection of talent and genetic excellence is managed and trained by Ramon Figueroa.  We look forward to introducing you to La Tierra's finest and help you select one of our talented horses now available for sale.

We can meet with you at horse shows or set up a private viewing of La Tierra's entire herd at our new farm in Springville, Alabama.

Betty and Stan want to push the quality of the breed to the level of its current standards, and beyond. Aware of that goal, La Tierra Paso Finos’ vision statement is to breed, compete, promote and sell Paso Finos of the finest quality, temperament, conformation and athleticism in the world.

We look forward to personally introducing you to the La Tierra family of horses.

Sincerely,
Betty & Stan Goldman
